• THAT: an electro-acoustic interactive improvisation ensemble with “avant-guarde” leanings. Begun in 1992, it was the first and the most significant and the most influential of the ensembles I have set up to focus on Spontaneously Performed Interactive Composition:

• THE OTHER: an electro-acoustic interactive improvisationensemble with “avant-guarde” leanings begun in the late 1990’s. I wanted a larger entity that would have access to the dynamic diversity only possible with a gathering of at least 7 highly individual and colourful composers interacting spontaneously. Intentionally it has been indeterminate in personnel and instrumentation to avoid the development of an identifiable compositional attitude and group sound.
• THAT’s IT: a larger electro-acoustic interactive improvisation ensemble with “avant-guarde” leanings. Varying membership, seven or more, built around THAT (Tolley, Dara, Walters), directed by David Tolley and Ren Walters.
